KTSHA Approves Bill Mandating Islamic Studies in Public Schools

Katsina State House of Assembly 

The Katsina State House of Assembly has approved the bill mandating the teaching of Islamic Studies in public schools across the state after its third reading.

In its session on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, led by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abdul Jalal Haruna Runka, the Assembly gave its nod to the bill.

It can be recalled that the member representing Katsina Local Government, Hon. Aliyu Abubakar Albaba, presented the bill and sponsored its implementation.

Following the presentation, the Assembly referred the bill to its Education Committee, chaired by Hon. Mustapha Rabe Musa Mai'adua, for further review and recommendations.

The approval came after the committee chairman, Hon. Mustapha Rabe Musa, presented the committee’s report, which received unanimous support from all Assembly members.

Finally, following the approval of the bill, the Speaker directed the Clerk of the Assembly to forward it to the State Executive Branch for the Governor's assent, paving the way for its implementation.
